Tricia Asselin, a 53-year-old woman, was present at Just-In-Time Recreation in Lewiston on Wednesday night, where she worked part-time. Tragically, she was inside the bowling alley when a gunman entered and began firing, according to her brother’s account to CNN on Thursday.

According to DJ Johnson, her brother, when the shooting began, Tricia Asselin rushed to the counter to dial 911, displaying immense courage in an attempt to seek help. Unfortunately, it was at that moment she was shot. He commended her for her bravery, emphasizing that she was not one to flee but instead chose to assist in the crisis. His other sister was also present at the bowling alley, but she managed to escape the perilous situation.

Speaking to CNN while en route to Maine to identify his sister and join the rest of their family, Johnson described Asselin as his “baby sister” and disclosed that they shared a very close bond. He noted that her adult son is devastated by her tragic death.

Tricia Asselin dedicated herself to her son, and Johnson described their relationship as inseparable. He stated that she was there for her son from the day he was born, and he remained the center of her world throughout his life.

In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Asselin played a pivotal role within their family. Johnson characterized her as the “rock of the family” who kept everyone steady and maintained harmony among them. Furthermore, when someone was having a difficult day, she would promptly reach out to offer comfort and support, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her loved ones.
