Just days after his father was sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother and younger brother, Buster Murdaugh filed a police complaint against reporters on Sunday, March 5, for allegedly following him.

The incident came after Buster and his girlfriend, Brooklynn White, discovered that the media had released a private photo of him in his Hilton Head home. After reviewing the surveillance footage around their house, the duo told authorities that they found a gray Dodge Challenger parked outside their home on Saturday.

They came to the conclusion that the person inside the vehicle was most likely responsible for clicking the picture based on the angle of the snap. The gray Dodge Challenger was located by the authorities after Buster’s police complaint. While they warned the vehicle’s occupant of an unlawful lane change, they also noted that the suspected photographer has a camera in a bag in their seat. He was released soon.

Buster, the last surviving son of disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, has recently come under the spotlight after his father was convicted of murdering his brother, Paul, and mother, Maggie in their Moselle home.

There are reports of Buster having his own set of skeletons in the closet as, years ago, he was identified as a person of interest in the death of 19-year-old Stephen Smith, an openly gay South Carolina teen. Smith was allegedly in a relationship with Buster. According to local reports, investigators Buster was never charged by the authorities because his father’s influence prevented them from further probing the case.

In June 2021, Carolina authorities reopened the Stephen Smith case after Alex was arrested for the double homicide and several other cases of fraud and embezzlement against his own family law firm.
