Due to a rib injury, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is questionable for Monday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Herbert sustained the injury against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5 and was restricted in practice last week.

Herbert is one of the Chargers’ most prominent offensive players. Last season, he threw for 5,014 yards and 35 touchdowns and was nominated to his first Pro Bowl team. The Chargers are 3-2 this season and seeking to rebound from a Week 5 setback to the Denver Broncos.

In the event that Herbert is unable to play against the Cowboys, the Chargers will most likely turn to backup quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel has not started a game since 2019, but he is familiar with the Chargers’ offense. In 2020 and 2021, he was Herbert’s backup.

The Cowboys have one of the league’s greatest defenses, but they have yet to play a quarterback like Herbert this season. The Chargers have a number of talented weapons on offense, including wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams and running back Austin Ekeler.

The Chargers’ offensive line will need to play well against the Cowboys’ pass rush. Micah Parsons leads one of the finest pass rushes in the NFL for the Cowboys. Herbert is a mobile quarterback who must be able to move up into the pocket and make throws.

The Chargers’ defense must also perform well against the Cowboys’ offense. The Cowboys’ offense is one of the strongest in the league, spearheaded by quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The Chargers’ defense has been inconsistent this season, but they must improve against the Cowboys.

Even if Herbert does not play, the Chargers have a decent chance of beating the Cowboys. Daniel is a capable backup quarterback, and the Chargers’ offense is loaded with great weapons. However, the Chargers’ offensive line has to beat the Cowboys’ pass rush, and the Chargers’ defense must beat the Cowboys’ offense.
