Robert F Kennedy Jr on Wednesday announced his run for 2024 US President Elections. The environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist will likely face President Joe Biden in the Democratic Primary. But will he receive support from Donald Trump?

RFK is the nephew of John F. Kennedy and the son of the former President’s brother Robert F. Kennedy. He filed a his candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday. While his campaign, which will face a Biden test in the Democratic Primary, seems like a long shot, Donald Trump’s support should help. The other candidate in the pool is author Marianne Williamson.

Trump is facing as many as 34 felony counts for his alleged hush money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. The former US President pleaded not guilty in the arraignment trial in Manhattan.

“Our country is going to hell”, Trump said from his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, after flying back from New York.  “This fake case was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election and it should be dropped immediately,” he added. The Republican further lashed out at Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and targeted the Joe Biden administration.

Donald Trump is seen as a frontrunner in the 2024 Republican nomination.

While there are no links between Trump and RFK Jr, social media users say that the former is likely to support the latter’s campaign against Biden.

“I watched several of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Covid videos and he never blamed President Trump. I think it’s obvious that Trump was misled about Covid and outmaneuvered when the Cabal stole the election. RFK Jr. in a Democrat debate should be a Pay-Per-View event,” a Twitter user said.

“Robert Kennedy Jr is running against Joe Biden. Consider for a moment the potential his nomination would hold in terms of bringing this country together. My first thought was, is there a Trump/Kennedy Jr ‘team’ here?” another one added.

Kennedy has been an anti-vaccine activist long before the COVID-19 pandemic. He also runs a charity – Children’s Health Defense, which saw revenues go more than double in 2020. Trump, on the other hand, has spoken in support of vaccines.

One link that connects the two is their mutual dislike for Anthony Fauci. RFK had released a book in 2021, accusing the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of assisting in “a historic coup d’etat against Western democracy”.
