Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has found himself in hot water once again after he was seen flashing a gun during an Instagram Live video. The NBA side has suspended Morant, with spokesperson Mike Bass releasing a statement that says, “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.” The Grizzles have also said that the suspension is pending league review.

This past weekend, the video of Morant riding in a car with a companion started to become viral on social media. The 23-year-old is briefly shown holding what looks to be a gun at one point. Whether the weapon is real and whether Morant owns it are both unknown. Morant hasn’t responded to the video yet.

The incident takes place almost two months after Morant was part of a similar incident. In March, the league suspended Morant for eight games after he was filmed flashing a gun in a Colorado stripclub.

“Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in March after Morant’s suspension. “It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him.”

Nike which has partnered with the young basketball star had released a statement supporting him back then.“We appreciate Ja’s accountability and that he is taking the time to get the help he needs. We support his prioritization of his well-being,” Nike had said. However Nike is yet to release a statement on whether it will continue its partnership with Morant or not so far.

Morant had issued an apology over the March incident. The NBA came to the conclusion that the gun did not belong to the player, and the police did not charge Morant with any crimes in connection with it. He lost roughly $669,000 in salary when he was suspended. It is to be seen what kind of action will be taken against him this time.
