At least seven firefighters have been injured, including one who is in a critical condition as a crew of nearly 200 emergency workers battled a massive 6-alarm fire which spread across multiple stores in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Just before noon Sunday, firefighters arrived at the scene on Lee Avenue and Hooper Street. According to officials, the fire reportedly seemed to have started in a chocolate shop and then spread to neighboring retail stores.

While trying to douse the flames, at least seven firefighters were injured. The Brooklyn fire comes just over a month after two firefighters in New Jersey were killed after responding to a blaze in the Port of Newark.

After two firefighters were injured, other fire crews inside the building were ordered to vacate in order to fight the fire from the outside. Tenants in the building included “a discount store, a shoe store, a chocolate store, a kosher restaurant, a bridal store, an optician, and an exterminator.”

The Brooklyn Queens Expressway was clouded with fire. Residents were warned that there could be smoke and traffic delays near the scene. Officials have urged the public to avoid the area.
