Cleveland, Ohio, will see its first major snowstorm of the season on Wednesday, the National Weather Services have said. They have added that six to nine inches of snow is possible and a winter storm watch has been issued 7 pm onwards.

The storm will start as rainshowers in the afternoon which is expected to later change into snow. According to the forecast, heavy lake-effect snow is possible in other parts of the snow belt, such as eastern Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Ashtabula counties.

The winter storm watch will likely stay till Thursday evening. 

According to forecasters, Ashtabula County’s northeastern region might have 1 inch of snow every hour overnight. Three to six inches might fall in Lake and Geauga counties.

The usual issues with driving on local roads will be exacerbated by the lake-effect snow, particularly during stronger squalls.

The elements are favourable for lake-effect snow. Low 30s will be the overnight low, and southwest breezes of 11 to 14 mph will be present. The water temperature of Lake Erie, which is open, is 53 degrees.

It will be cool Tuesday night with a chance of snowflakes and a few chilly showers. A slushy dusting at most is anticipated in terms of accumulation. T he temperature will drop to just below freezing, according to the forecasts.

Before the lake effect snow machine starts up Wednesday night into Thursday with a west wind, it will be dry. Southward accumulations will be minimal. For Cleveland, northern Medina, Summit, and Portage Counties, it will be several inches. Parts of Lake and Ashtabula counties, where 3-6′′ of snow is anticipated by Friday, may experience the worst effects of the storm.
