A woman has succumbed to injuries after being shot in the Capitol building as the building has finally been cleared of the protestors, AFP reported.
A spokesperson for the Washington police said that the woman who was shot during the incident at the US Capitol had died.
Alaina Gertz, the spokesperson, did not reveal any details about the identity of the woman or the circumstances of the shooting as the case was still under investigation, AFP reported.

A short while after the violence erupted in the US Capitol, unverified photos and videos started popping up of a bleeding woman on the floor of the US Capitol.
After the violence broke out, the National Guard of Washington was mobilized quickly to mitigate any more harm in the premises.

Many world leaders and International Organisations have poured in their condemnation of the incident and have called this “an attack on democracy”.
