The rockets were fired from near the village of Seddiqine in the district of Tyre, the sources told the news agency.
In response, Israel fired artillery shells towards southern Lebanon.
“Four rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory. The Iron Dome Aerial Defence System intercepted one of them and the rest most likely fell in open areas,” the Israeli Army said in a statement, adding that in response army “artillery are striking a number of targets in Lebanese territory.”
It’s presently not known if there were any casualties.
This is the third such attack launched from Isreal.
The first one came from the Shebaa farms area in south Lebanon, when rockets were fired towards Israel, but they failed to cross the border. The Israeli Army had responded with artillery fire.
Last Thursday, three rockets were fired from near the Palestinian refugee camp of Rashidiyeh, which according to the Israeli army fell into the sea.
Sources close to Hezbollah, Israel’s arch-enemy in Lebanon, were quick to deny any involvement in either attack.
The rocket strikes come amid tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli frontier which has seen daily demonstrations in the past week to denounce Israel’s deadly Gaza campaign.
