Emergency services in northern Italy said that 14 people died and two were seriously injured after a cable car crashed to the ground. The two injured were of age five and nine, while the nine-year-old was said to be in a critical condition. The two injured were rushed to a hospital in Turin, reports AFP.
The incident happened on the shores on the side of a mountain, of Lake Maggiore in Stresa near the Piedmont region, told a spokesman to AFP.
Walter Milan initially, the Emergency Services spokesman, earlier told to AFP “The provisional toll is eight dead and two injured”. He added that they were rushed to a pediatric hospital in Turin.

The accident occurred around 300 metres from the summit and may have happened due to a broken cable at the top of the system, AFP quotes Ansa news agency. It said that 11 people were in the cabin that crashed.
