The COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP27 is taking place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6 through November 18, 2022. It is being presided over by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry. It is the Africa’s first climate meeting since 2016.

More than 90 heads of state and an estimated 35,000 representatives, or delegates, from 190 nations are expected to participate. Since the 1992 signing of the first UN climate agreement, the meeting has been conducted yearly. Governments utilise it to reach consensus on measures to rein in global temperature increases and prepare for the effects of climate change.
The conference will be held in Egypt after a successful bid launched in 2021. Yasmine Fouad, the Egyptian environment minister, and Alok Sharma, the head of COP26, spoke about conference preparations on January 8th, 2022.
