Answer: The Federal Eagle

Germany’s coat of arms displays a black eagle with a red beak, a red tongue, and red feet, against a golden backdrop. Formerly known as the Reichsadler (German for “Imperial Eagle”), the coat of arms today is known as the Bundesadler (German for “Federal Eagle”), which is one of the oldest coats of arms in the world, and the oldest in Europe. The coat of arms in its earliest form was used by the Holy Roman Empire in the 13th and 14th centuries, and was reintroduced by the German Empire of 1871–1918. It remained in use in various forms through the 20th century. Since 1990, the Federal Eagle has served as the symbol of reunified Germany.
