British Prime Minister Boris Johnson married his fiancee Carrie Symonds in a “secret ceremony” at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday in front of a small group of close friends and family, the Mail and The Sun newspapers reported.

Only a small number of church officials were involved in the wedding and was kept so secret that even some of the most senior Downing Street aides were unaware of it, sources told the paper.

Last year in February, the couple announced their engagement together with the news of expecting their first child. They have been waiting to tie the knot after their originals plan to marry last year was delayed by the pandemic.

Around 30 guests attended Saturday’s service because of the coronavirus rules in Central London, according to the Mail. However, The Sun tabloid said the couple had been planning the “cloak and dagger operation” for a secret ceremony for up to six months.

Carries Symonds arrived at lunchtime in a limousine and wore “a stunning long and flowing white dress” but chose not to wear a veil, it added.   

The priest who baptized the couples’ son Wilfred, officiated the wedding, and Wilfred was also in attendance, according to The Sun.

Symonds gave birth to their son just weeks after Johnson left intensive care as he recovered from a severe case of coronavirus.

Previously, Borris was married to lawyer Marina Wheeler and had four children, they split in 2018. the divorce was finalized last November only. Reportedly, he also has a daughter as the result of an affair.

The duo has been in the spotlight recently due to a scandal over the costly redecoration of their Downing Street flat.
