A student, 17, has been charged for a stabbing in Brockton High School on Friday. The victim, another student, suffered non-life threatening injuries, was ‘alert and responsive’ on the ride to the hospital, a police department spokesperson said.

A stay in place was ordered in the location shortly after 12:37 PM. It’s at least the third stay-in-place order at Brockton High this school year.
Jahziel Barros, ninth grader, told Boston 25 that the incident took place in the cafeteria. Students shared the video of the incident on social media, where the 17-year-old can be seen stabbing his colleague on the leg, Barros said.

“It shouldn’t happen of course, but it’s just like the way life is now. Things are just getting worse and worse. Since the beginning of the school year we’ve been on the news a couple of times, and it was getting better, and then this just brought the energy back.”
Last year, Brockton Police said a student was removed from the high school after he brought a gun onto campus.
“The violence is crazy nowadays. Very unfortunate for people out here having to be worried about their kids going to school,” a student, who once attended Brockton High School said.

The suspect allegedly fled school grounds immediately after the incident.
Aerial footage from the scene showed multiple police cruisers outside the school on Friday afternoon.
