A day after suicide attacks at Kabul airport killed at least 85 people, Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan appealed to stop the killings of innocent Afghans. He took to Twitter on Friday to say that Kabul is bleeding again and requested to stop the killing of Afghans.

Earlier this month, prior to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan had appealed to the world leaders to not leave the country in ‘chaos’. He also said that thousands of innocent Afghans are getting martyred every day and properties are being destroyed as well.

“Dear World Leaders! My country is in chaos, thousand of innocent people, including children & women, get martyred everyday, houses & properties being destructed. Thousand families displaced..
Don’t leave us in chaos. Stop killing Afghans & destroying Afghanistan. We want peace,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

The Taliban took over Afghanistan earlier this month after the United States announced withdrawal of its forces from the country. Since then, thousands have been attempting to flee the country as part of evacuation operations of several countries.

On Thursday, a twin suicide bomb attack killed at least people outside Kabul airport. The deceased include children and 13 US servicemen. The Islamic State’s Afghanistan affiliate, dubbed Islamic State Khorasan or ISIS-K, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The explosion reportedly went off in a crowd of people waiting to enter the airport. Hours before the attack, the United Kingdom and other several other nationals had warned of a possible terror attack on Kabul’s airport.

Following the attack, US President Joe Biden, who is under pressure over his administration’s handling of the Afghan crisis, vowed to punish those responsible for the blast.

“We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay,” President Biden said.
