Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died at the age of 86. He was a renowned media tycoon and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Italy in four different governments. Berlusconi played a key effect in molding Italy’s political and cultural landscape during his political career.

Silvio Berlusconi was rushed to a hospital in Milan on Friday for pre-planned tests related to his leukemia, according to his advisers. This hospitalization happened just three weeks after he was discharged from Milan’s San Raffaele hospital, where he had been hospitalized for six weeks.

Berlusconi controlled a big corporate empire via the Fininvest family holding and various affiliated enterprises.

Fininvest-

Berlusconi got recognition in the 1980s by building a media empire and acquiring AC Milan, a major European football team. He used Fininvest, a family holding firm, to properly manage his numerous interests. Fininvest’s assets were valued at around 4.9 billion euros ($5.3 billion) by the end of 2021.

Silvio held 61.3% of Fininvest before his death.

MFE – MediaForEurope-

MediaForEurope (MFE), originally Mediaset, is Italy’s largest commercial broadcaster. MFE is controlled by Fininvest, which holds 48% of the company. In both Italy and Spain, the firm offers a variety of free-to-air TV channels and streaming services.

AC Monza-

In 2017, Fininvest, under Silvio Berlusconi’s control, paid 740 million euros for AC Monza, a minor football club. AC Monza achieved success the next year as they were promoted to Italy’s top-tier competition, Serie A, in 2022.

Mondadori-

Fininvest is the biggest shareholder in Mondadori, Italy’s leading publisher, with a 53% stake. Mondadori has a dominating position in the domestic book market, allowing it to wield tremendous power and influence over the sector.

Fininvest holds 30% of Banca Mediolanum, an Italian asset manager with assets worth $6 billion. This ownership position gives Fininvest enormous influence and engagement in the financial institution’s operations and decision-making processes.
