Google released its ‘Year in Search 2021’ list on Wednesday, which, like every other year, shows what was searched the most on its search engine around the world. While there is a global list that shows the international search trends for the entire year, there are also country-specific lists that show the regional trends that swept the internet in 2021.
The Indian Premier League, CoWIN, and the ICC T20 World Cup were all hot topics this year, so it’s no surprise that they were the top three search trends in India. Jai Bhim, Shershaah, and Radhe were among the most sought-after films in the country.

When it came to current events, the Google list revealed that Indians were most interested in the Tokyo Olympics, Afghan news, and black fungus updates. Meanwhile, celebrities like Neeraj Chopra, Aryan Khan, and Shehnaaz Gill dominated the headlines this year, resulting in them being the most searched for people on Google.

Meanwhile, ‘Australia vs India,’ ‘India vs England,’ and ‘IPL’ were the most searched for terms this year, even surpassing ‘NBA’ and ‘Euro 2021,’ two events that are expected to generate a lot of interest among sports fans.
Afghanistan, AMC stocks, and the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as Dogecoin and GME stock, all trended in global news stories. Furthermore, Aryan Khan joined Alec Baldwin, Pete Davidson, Gina Carano, and Armie Hammer on the list of most-searched-for actors worldwide (presumably as a result of the high-profile Mumbai cruise raid case earlier this year).
