People in Beijing have been ordered to undergo mass coronavirus testing ahead of the Olympics. The government has employed a “zero tolerance” policy to isolate infected people since the Olympics begin on February 4.
Xu Hejian, a government spokesperson said that the Chinese capital must “take the most resolute, decisive and strict measures to block the transmission chain of the epidemic”, and added, “In principle, personnel in risk areas shall not leave Beijing”.
As a result, Fengtai residents lined up on the sidewalks on Sunday, to undergo testing. Further, there are strict measures to keep athletes, reporters, and officials isolated. Not only are athletes required to be vaccinated, but they also have to undergo quarantine upon arrival in China.
