Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the Copenhagen mall shooting on Sunday was “incomprehensible. Heartbreaking. Pointless.” At least three people were killed in the attack, while three others were wounded, according to media reports citing law enforcement officials.
According to a roughly translated statement, Frederiksen added, “I send my deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.” She also urged the Danish people to stand together and support each other. “Our beautiful and usually so safe capital was changed in a split second.”

One man in his 40s and “two young people” were killed in the mass shooting incident at the Copenhagen mall on Sunday, according to AP reports citing police officer Soren Thomassen.
Who is the suspect in the shooting?
Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed the name of the suspect but clarified that he was an “ethnic Dane,” a phrase typically used to mean someone is white. It was also confirmed that the suspect is a 22-year-old male. There was no indication that anyone else was involved in the attack, though police were still investigating.
What have witnesses said?
“He seemed very violent and angry,” eyewitness Mahdi Al-Wazni told TV2. “He spoke to me and said it (the rifle) isn’t real as I was filming him. He seemed very proud of what he was doing.”

“It is pure terror. This is awful,” said Hans Christian Stoltz, a 53-year-old IT consultant, who was bringing his daughters to see Harry Styles perform at a concert scheduled for Sunday night near the mall. “You might wonder how a person can do this to another human being, but it’s beyond … beyond anything that’s possible.”
The shooting came a week after a mass shooting in neighboring Norway, where police said a Norwegian man of Iranian origin opened fire during an LGBTQ festival, killing two and wounding more than 20.
