US President Joe Biden reacted to former President Donald Trump’s announcement of another White House bid in 2024 on Wednesday, by saying his political rival had “failed” his country while in office.
Biden made the critical statement via a tweet from Bali, Indonesia, where he is attending the G20 Summit. His tweet was accompanied by a video compilation of all the wrong decisions and statements made by his predecessor during his administrative rule.
It was a montage of how Trump made tax cuts for the rich and corporations, let the unemployment rate of the county skyrocket, and created the lowest number of jobs while being the president. Biden’s video pointed out the fact that Trump was the only president to leave the office with fewer jobs than when he took office.

The video also blasted Trump for trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, claiming it to be an attack on the healthcare sector, which if he was successful, would have left 23 million Americans without coverage.
In the montage were parts of Trump’s speeches from the past where he called far-right extremists and neo-nazis “fine people” and demanded women be punished for opting for abortion. Trump was also accused of inciting violence and being responsible for the January 6 Capitol riots.

On Tuesday, Trump told a crowd gathered at Mar-a-Lago, “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”
Trump’s paperwork establishing his candidacy was filed with the Federal Election Committee shortly before he delivered his announcement at Mar-a-Lago.

During his speech, Trump made clear that he viewed his campaign as a sacrificial undertaking.
“Anyone who truly seeks to take on this rigged and corrupt system will be faced with a storm of fire that only a few could understand,” he said at one point. He described the legal and emotional toll his presidency and the post-presidential period have taken on his family members.
