After months of speculation, the lineup for King Charles’ Coronation Concert has finally been announced. The BBC has described it as an “eclectic lineup of artists” that includes some of the biggest names in the music industry, as well as some lesser-known performers. The event is set to take place at Windsor Castle on May 7, the day after the king’s coronation.

Who is going to perform at the Coronation?

One of the biggest names on the lineup is pop superstar Katy Perry, who will be performing at the concert. With over 65 billion streams and sales of over 57 million adjusted albums worldwide, Perry is set to be one of the biggest headliners of the show. In addition to her musical talent, Perry also has a friendly relationship with King Charles, having been appointed as an ambassador for The British Asian Trust, a charity founded by Charles, in 2020.

Lionel Richie, who is also an American Idol judge alongside Perry, will also be performing at the Coronation Concert. The legendary singer and songwriter was appointed as The Prince’s Trust’s first Global Ambassador and Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group in 2019, making him a fitting addition to the event.

British boy band Take That will be reuniting for the concert, with original members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen confirmed to perform. While the band’s fourth and fifth members, Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, are unconfirmed, their performance is set to be a spectacle, featuring a live band and orchestra, a choir, military drummers, and the backdrop of Windsor Castle.

The lineup also includes some classical performers, such as opera star Andrea Bocelli, who will perform a duet with Sir Bryn Terfel, a Welsh bass baritone. North London singer/songwriter Freya Ridings will perform a duet with classical composer, producer, and pianist Alexis Ffrench.

Alongside the concert’s headliners, the Coronation Choir, made up of community choirs from across the U.K., will give a special performance. They will be joined by singers from across the Commonwealth in the Virtual Choir.

In addition to the musical performances, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor will deliver a spoken performance, while Sir Tom Jones, British adventurer Bear Grylls, and South African dancer Oti Mabuse will appear in a series of pre-recorded sketches, revealing some “little-known facts” about King Charles III.
