A spokesperson for Prince Charles said Monday that the
prince did not question the skin tone of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child
denying claims made in a book by Christopher Anderson titled “Brothers and
Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan.” In the
book, the author makes the sensational claim that Prince Charles had questioned
what the “complexion” of the Harry and Meghan’s child would be.
Prince Charles is in Barbados right now to take part
in celebrations marking the island’s transition into a republic. On the side-lines
of the event, Prince Charles’ spokesperson said, “This is fiction and not worth
further comment.”

The news about the book’s claims were published in a
celebrity news website called Page Six. The report claims that on the morning
of Harry and Meghan’s wedding, Prince Charles said to his wife, “I wonder what
the children would look like.” “Well, absolutely gorgeous,” replied Camilla
somewhat taken aback.
According to the book, Charles then lowered his voice
and went on to ask, “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion
might be?”

In an interview in March to Oprah Winfrey, Meghan
Markle had said that a “senior royal” had raised concerns about how dark their
son’s skin may be. Meghan, a Hollywood star and wife of Prince Harry, was born
to a Black mother and white father.
She said in the interview that her and Harry’s son
Archie was denied the title of Prince because the royal family was concerned “about
how dark his skin might be”.
Following the interview, the Buckingham Palace had
said that the issues raised were concerning and were being taken seriously and
will be privately addressed by the family.
The marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018
has been at the centre of tensions all through and has also been at the centre
of attention of British tabloids.
