Cincinnati Bengals wide reciever Tee Higgins took a shot to the head from the New York Jets’ Lamarcus Joyner at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The WR was taken off the field but minutes later was spotted standing on the sideline with his helmet. Higgins missed most of his team’s season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers after leaving the game with a concussion.

On Sunday, he was sent out to the medical tent. The 23-year-old received a brutal head-to-head hit by safety Lamarcus Joyner. The WR fell on the ground.

The Bengals led the game 20-6 in the second quarter.

With 9:49 minutes left in the first quarter, quarterback Joe Burrow hit Higgins on a throw to the back of the end zone. The wide receiver was covered by cornerback D.J. Reed. He managed to jump high and take an incredible catch. He landed in without the heel touching the out line. However, Jerome Boger and his crew after ruling an incompletion, upheld it on review.

“Tee Higgins is the first victim this year of a rule I hate. You can toe tap one direction and you’re fine, but you do it the other direction when your heel comes down after it’s out of bounds. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it,” a Twitter user said.

“I don’t care what they rule. Tee Higgins getting even close to a TD on that is just silly,” a second one said.

“#Bengals score so it doesn’t matter but Tee Higgins a victim of one of the weirder rules. If you drag your toes only, you’re in. If you have both sets of toes down but then your heel lands out of bounds, you’re out,” a third one added.
