The Voice season 21: Expected release date, cast, and more | Check here
- The Voice will be back this year with season 21
- The format of the show will also remain as it was, including the blind auditions
- The Voice will return in the fall for its 21st season
After a successful season 20, The Voice will be back this year with season 21. With Nick Jonas leaving the show, the place will be filled by singing sensation Ariana Grande. The other staples of the show will remain the same, such as the presence of – Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend, the judges' banter. The format of the show will also remain as it was, including the blind auditions, etc.
However, there is one big change for the long-running show and that is, The Voice – will now be reduced to one cycle a year. It will return in the fall for its 21st season but will not be back in the spring.
“Going into the 21st cycle in the fall, The Voice remains one of the most popular shows on television and we want to keep it that way. We want to eventize this iconic series. We think The Voice will be on NBC for a very long time to come and we believe the best way to protect the brand, while also super-serving fans is to produce one amazing cycle this year,” said Frances Berwick, chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.
The cast of The Voice season 21 include – Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Ariana Grande (replacing Nick Jonas). Blake Shelton is the longest-standing coach on The Voice. Shelton and Carson Daly are the only two cast members who have remained on the show from its inception. John Legend has been part of The Voice since Season 16.
While there hasn't been any official statement on why Jonas is leaving the show, Grande is of course expected to bring a whole new legion of fans to The Voice. “Surprise !!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice! 🤍 @nickjonas we will miss you,” tweeted Grande.
