Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen.  As a special gesture, the Danish PM received Modi at the airport. 

She gave him a tour of Marienborg, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Denmark. Frederiksen showed him the Pattachitra painting gifted by him during her last visit to India. 

The Pattachitra style of painting is a popular art form originating in Odisha. It is made by the Chitrakar community of painters in the state.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reported that many top BJP leaders from Odisha took to the microblogging site Twitter and shared a picture of the moment as the two premiers shared a lighter moment on the painting that captures the rich culture of India and its coastal state. 

“India’s soft power and Odisha’s treasure in the form of Pattachitra painting adorns the Denmark PM HE Frederiksen’s residence. She gave a tour of her residence to Hon. PM @narendramodi ji and showed the painting gifted by PM Modi during her last India visit. Proud moment!” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted.

“When the PM of Denmark HE Frederiksen was giving a tour of her residence to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, he spotted the Pattachitra painting of Odisha adorning her house. Modi Ji had gifted this painting to her during her last visit to India,” BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra tweeted.

Pattachitra paintings usually depict religious themes, such as stories from the Mahabharata,Ramayana, Krishna Lila and incarnations of Lord Vishnu. 

The painting that PM Modi gifted to Danish PM depicts Ram Darbar or the court of Lord Ram. The painting highlights the main events from Ramayana, highlighting the life and ideals of Lord Ram.

PM Modi held one-to-one conversations and delegation-level talks with the Danish PM to boost India-Denmark friendship. The two sides also inked seven agreements.

PM Modi’s Denmark visit started shortly after concluding his Berlin visit on Tuesday.
