You get your moment of fame when you least expect it and it happened to this cockroach, who managed to steal the attention of all, while the women’s hockey match between Spain and Argentina was being aired on an Argentinian TV channel. In a video doing rounds on social media, a cameraman shooting a hockey match at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 preferred to focus on this cockroach for a good few seconds than the match, possibly because there wasn’t much left in the game with the Argentine side dominating the rival side.
While Team Argentina won the match, the cockroach-in-question was clearly the star of the match.

The video clip, which has since gone viral on social media, has amassed many reactions from people around the world, with some pointing out the ‘historical significance’ of the moment.
“Representing arthropods for the first time in the history of the Olympic games,” a user tweeted.

Some users even said the man behind the lenses could be a wildlife activist. A step further, some even tagged National Geographic channel, requesting the channel to give a job to the cameraman.
Some Twitteratis explained that cockroaches were a rare sight in Japan and the coverage, from that point of view, was rather interesting.
It wasn’t just the cameraman but the commentators too were enamoured by the insect, who clearly wasn’t interested in the match. A user termed the capture a “cinematic genius”, highlighting that one moment when the famous cockroach stopped and turned to look towards the camera as the commentator took its name.

A few also pointed out that the seven-second clip was not impromptu but the production team’s fun-plan, switching scenes between the match and the roaming insect.
