A British Columbia (B.C.) man named Ben Mizrachi is reported missing in Israel following the attack on the region on Saturday. This information was confirmed by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs to CTV News on Sunday.

Who is Ben Mizrachi?

Ben Mizrachi was initially reported missing in a social media post by Vancouver’s King David High School, which requested prayers for his safety. The school identified him as a former student and asked for support for him and his family.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, a Jewish organization based in Toronto, verified the school’s report and mentioned that they would not be providing further comments at the family’s request for privacy.

Global Affairs Canada provided an update on the situation on Sunday, acknowledging reports of one Canadian fatality and two Canadians missing amid the conflict that began on Saturday. They stated that they are working to confirm this information. According to Global Affairs, there are 1,419 registered Canadians in Israel and 492 in the Palestinian territories, although they emphasized that registration is voluntary and does not provide a complete picture of Canadians abroad.

As of Sunday, Global Affairs Canada reported that they have responded to 429 inquiries related to travel advice and advisories for Israel and Gaza, the status of the airport and flights, the overall security situation, and options for leaving the country. They are urging Canadians in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip to shelter in place, limit their movements, and monitor local media for the latest information.
