Mackenzie
Scott, former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has filed for divorce with her
second husband Dan Jewett. Jewett, a former science teacher, got married to
Scott in 2021. Mackenzie Scott filed for divorce at the King County Superior
Court in Washington State on Monday, according to the New York Times. Court
records show Dan Jewett did not contest the divorce.

Bezos sent their children.

Dan Jewett
was born in Washington’s Seattle. Jewett initially taught chemistry at The Bush
School in Seattle before moving to the school where he would meet Mackenzie
Scott as a teacher to her children.

Little is
known about Dan Jewett’s personal life before his marriage with Mackenzie
Scott. While Bezos and Scott largely remained in the limelight, Jewett is said
to be shy of the media glare.

Jewett, while
married to Mackenzie Scott, was supportive of her philanthropic ventures. After
her divorce with Jeff Bezos, Mackenzie Scott kept a 4% stake in Amazon, that
made her one of the richest women in the world and the 22nd richest
person in the world at the time of her marriage to Dan Jewett.

Jewett
added his name to Scott’s Giving Pledge page and issued a statement saying that
he joins her “in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve
others.”

Dan Jewett
had praised Mackenzie Scott once as the “kindest and most thoughtful person” he
knows and said that he looked forward to being able to “do so much good” in
sharing and giving away his assets, according to a PEOPLE report.

Jeff Bezos
and Dan Jewett are said to be on friendly terms. The Amazon founder once said: “Dan
is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them,” the
PEOPLE reported.
