Formerly a coach to various top tier European football clubs across leagues such as Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A, Jose Mourinho on Tuesday joined Serie A side AS Roma from Tottenham Hotspurs.

 Having won multiple
trophies during his managerial stints in these sides, Jose Mourinho is one of
the most renowned names in world football.

Born on January 26, 1963 in Setubal in Portugal, Mourinho played
as a midfielder in the Portuguese leagues before moving onto coaching, working
as an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson in Sporting CP and then working as an
assistant to both Sir Bobby Robson and Louis Van Gaal in FC Barcelona.

The first big break for ‘The Special One’ came in 2004 with FC Porto, as he
managed to win the UEFA Champions League with the side.

This provided him with the spotlight, helping the Portuguese
to travel to England and start managing Chelsea, who won their first ever
top-tier title in 50 years with Mourinho in the 2004/05 season, as well as retaining
it a year later.

His following workplaces included clubs like Inter Milan and
Real Madrid, before returning to England in the 2013/14 season and winning the
League Cup the next year.

In 2016, he signed a three-year contract in Manchester
United, leading them to win the League Cup, the Community Shield and the UEFA
Europa League.

With the season spelling success for United, Mourinho stayed
back but interestingly could not continue the saga of trophy winning any
longer.

He joined Spurs in 2019 as the successor to former manager Mauricio
Pochettino, leading the North London club to a sixth-place finish in the 2019/2020
season.
