Sara Duterte, the daughter of the outgoing president of the Philippines, took her oath Sunday as vice president following a landslide electoral victory.

President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Duterte’s running mate, will take his oath in Manila on June 30.

The 77-year-old Rodrigo led the VIPs in the heavily guarded ceremony at a public square in the port city of Davao. Rodrigo has faced several criticisms during his term for his human rights record that saw thousands of drug suspects gunned down.

Here are some facts about Sara Duterte:

The 44-year-old served as the mayor of Davao City since 2016, and previously from 2010 to 2013. She was also Davao City’s vice mayor from 2007 to 2010.

Sara was born in Davao City on May 31, 1978. Her mother was a flight attendant named Elizabeth Zimmerman.

In 2010, Sara was elected mayor, becoming the first female mayor of the city, as well as being the youngest to have been elected. She won over House Speaker Prospero Nograles, her father’s political rival, in a lead of 200,000 votes in the 2010 elections.

Vowing to be “useful and to serve the country at all times,” she assumed the post that her father Rodrigo held for over 20 years.

Sara later decided not to seek re-election in 2013 to give way to her father Rodrigo.
