Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Devin White wore a shirt honoring his late father Carlos Thomas vs the New Orleans Saints in Week 13’s Monday Night Football Game at the Raymond James Stadium.
Who was Carlos Thomas?
Carlos Thomas was the father of current Tampa Bay’s LB Devin White. He died in custody on November 9 at the Parish Detention Facility in Louisiana’s Natchitoches city. Thomas had been detained since October 2021 due to federal charges. The charges against Thomas included conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with the intent to distribute it.
On November 10th, 2022, Carlos complained of back pain while he was in jail. Authorities transported him to the Natchitoches Medical Regional Center where he died later that day at 45 years of age.
On Sunday, November 20, 2022, his final rites took place at the Civic Springhill Center in Los Angeles.
Thomas was born on July 2, 1977 in Inglewood, California. He was married to Shameka Grant since 2013 and had a daughter together named, Kharma Rose Carnegie who referred to Carlos as “JuJu,” the cool dad.
According to Tampa.com, he was the owner of Platinum Hands Mobile Detailing Services, which offered services to businesspeople, politicians, and professional athletes. King Mulah was a French bulldog he kept as a pet and enjoyed breeding.

Devin White’s NFL Career:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected White with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
With his selection, he became the highest-drafted defensive player since 2011 as well as the highest-selected linebacker in LSU history. On July 20, 2019, the Buccaneers inked White to a four-year, $29.32 million contract with a $19.34 million signing bonus that was fully guaranteed.
With 91 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, three pass deflections, one interception, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and two fumble return touchdowns, White had a productive rookie season.
In three years with the team, he has won a Super Bowl (in 2021), was a Pro Bowl player in 2021 to go with his Second Team All-Pro selection for 2020. He has also recorded 359 combined tackles and 15.0 sacks in 45 matches.
