With the third episode of Loki revealing Sylvie’s story in bits and pieces, there has been a lot of buzz around the female variant of Loki. Loki episode 4 gave viewers a glimpse of Sylvie’s past. The episode showed how Sylvie was taken away from her original timeline by Ravonna Renslayer when she was still a hunter. But, there was an original nexus event that caused Sylvie to lose the life she was meant to have.
But, what is ‘nexus event’?

According to Marvel facts, the TVA only removes someone from the timeline when they do something unapproved. It creates a branched timeline, which is known as a nexus event and it also makes them a variant.
What was Sylvie’s nexus event?
In episode 4, Sylvie told Loki that she believes her birth was the nexus event, but it didn’t make any sense as she herself didn’t seem to believe it either. If her mere existence was a nexus event, then the fact that she was a growing child by the time the TVA came to get her meant that she was a major oversight on their part and this created the slowest growing branched timeline ever.

Sylvie also learned that she sets off nexus events wherever she goes with the TemPad unless she lives in apocalypse settings.
Eventually, Sylvie questioned Ravonna about the nexus event that caused the TVA to take her away. However, Renslayer said that she doesn’t remember any longer.

There are possibilities that Sylvie never actually caused a nexus event to begin with. As Loki confirmed that the TVA has its foundation laid on lies and deception. Also, there is so far no evidence that Sylvie actually caused a nexus event. It is certainly possible that the person behind the fake Time-Keepers and running the TVA had an ulterior motive to abduct Sylvie and try to erase her from existence.

Maybe Sylvie was on the correct path with her ‘existence’ being the reason why the TVA came after her, but it could also be as she was actually a nexus being. Well, all of this shall be answered in the coming episodes, including this mysterious nexus event.
