The Crown is gearing up with its fifth season whose filming is set to begin this year in July. According to reports, season 5 will mostly cover the 1990s %u2013 the turbulent period where Princess Diana and Prince Charles were separated. Apart from the development in plot, the upcoming season will also see a massive change in its cast as well.

With Imelda Staunton taking over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth ll, Lesley Manville replacing Helena Bonham-Carter as Princess Margaret, Dominic West replacing O%u2019Connor as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki replacing Corrin%u2019s Princess Diana and Jonathan Pryce taking over from Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, we will also see Jonny Lee Miller in season 5 of The Crown.

Jonny Lee Miller is best known for Trainspotting and Elementary. Miller will play British politician John Major, who led the country from 1990 to 1997 in the hit series of Netflix. Miller joining the case of The Crown was announced by the show’s official Twitter handle on Friday, %u201CJonny Lee Miller will play John Major in the fifth season of The Crown.%u201D

As we have seen in the previous season that the show was based around Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher %u2013 Golden Globe Award winner. For this season, as told by Peter Morgan, creator of The Crown, the season will be based around the Prime Minister (played by Miller). Apart from this, season 5 will also include Princess Diana%u2019s divorce and her bombshell BBC Panorama interview.
