The Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government won the
confidence motion in the state Assembly on Friday. The voting took place
by voice vote.

The trust vote took place after a three-hour long debate
on the proposal of trust vote, tabled by Rajasthan’s Law and Parliamentary
Affairs Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal.

During the debate, Dhariwal launched an attack on
BJP’s alleged attempts to buy Congress MLAs. He also took a jibe at Gajendra
Shekhawat in a veiled reference, and claimed he was “dreaming of becoming
the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan”.

During the debate, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot also took a dig at the opposition
, saying “your dreams will never get
fulfilled, you (BJP) conspired against breaking our government.”

He further took a jibe at the leaders of opposition present
in the house, saying, “I will not let Rajasthan government collapse at any cost.
I am 69 years old. I have been in politics for 50 years. I have been a
Union minister, chief minister because of this democracy. I am worried for this
democracy. Why are you not?”

After the victory, former rebel party leader Sachin
Pilot, who made a comeback to the party on last Tuesday, said “The vote of
confidence which was brought by the government has been passed with a very good
majority today in the Rajasthan
Assembly. Despite various attempts by the opposition, the result is in favour
of government.”

He further said, “This has put a full stop on all
suspicions that were rising. A roadmap has been prepared for all the issues
that were being raised. I have complete faith, that roadmap will be announced
timely.”
