Keeping all the controversies aside,
newly-inducted Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was seen dancing
with students at an event in Kapurthula, a city in Punjab. In the video doing
the rounds on social media, Channi can be seen breaking to into traditional
Punjabi dance ‘Bhangra’.

Channi
took oath as the new Chief Minister of Punjab on Monday, two days after his
predecessor Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the top post following a
power struggle with party’s state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.

However,
soon after taking the oath, Channi landed in a controversy for using
a chartered flight to fly to Delhi.
Channi,
along with his deputies Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, OP Soni and Punjab Congress
chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, went to Delhi on a chartered flight on Tuesday to
discuss the expansion of the new Punjab cabinet with the party’s central
leadership.
The
Opposition slammed them for travelling to Delhi on a chartered flight.

The
Shiromani Akali Dal said Congress leaders opt for “private jets for
travelling just 250 km to Delhi”, while the Aam Aadmi Party said the grand
old party has not been able to “give up its royal habits”.
Raveen
Thukral, media advisor to former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, also
took potshots at the Congress leaders.
Following
this, Channi defended defended the use of a chartered flight,
asking, “What is the problem if the son of a poor man boarded a
jet?”
In the
meantime, a photo of a man with coloured hair and earrings has gone viral
on social media with people claiming the the man in the photograph is Channi
and that the picture dates back to his early days as a Punjabi singer before he
joined politics. The image has “Singer Charanjit Channi” and “Tere Honge
Chandriye Phere” printed on it.
However, it
was found that the photo is of the Punjab CM’s namesake who was a singer.
