A Ukrainian nurse enjoying her first dance with her husband just weeks after tragically losing both of her legs on a Russian mine has taken over the internet.
According to Reuters, Oksana Balandina and Viktor Vasyliv, both 23, married in a hospital in Lviv, marking a happy moment in what has otherwise been a difficult time.

Balandina, who was dressed in a white gown and a pink flower crown in the video, had her arms around her husband’s neck as he held her up in his arms. As their dance came to an end, they kissed as onlookers applauded and cheered. The couple married in a hospital ward in front of a few guests.
The video of their emotional moment has since gone viral.

According to the Lviv Medical Association, Balandina was injured in a landmine explosion on March 27 while walking “on a familiar path” to their home in Lysychansk.
According to reports, Oksana’s legs were badly injured in the explosion, and four fingers on her left hand were blown away.

Viktor was unharmed, but Oksana had to be transferred to a hospital, where she underwent four operations before being flown to Dnipro.
Oksana arrived in Lviv last week and decided to marry in the hospital where she is currently recovering.

The Ukrainian Parliament shared a video of Viktor holding Oksana in a warm embrace as they danced around the hospital ward to the applause of their guests.

The Lviv Medical Association purchased the couple’s rings and also found Oksana a white gown.
On February 24, Russia‘s military started a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the first major land conflict in Europe in decades. The invasion, which was ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has sparked worldwide outrage.
