Since we saw the Byrde family flee from their city life to the titular lake, Ozark has been an incredibly interesting show that is streamed to date around the world. Netflix subscribers had waited patiently for two long years for Season 3 but their excitement and questions know no bounds with Season 4 of the series all set to be released on January 21.

Viewers have been stunned by the complicated storyline that goes way beyond any individual’s mere imagination. The involvement of drug cartels, their articulated violence, twisted tales, and buying and selling of assets have all brought a new level of excitement and fan base to the show. The series has left the audience with strange questions and introspections. Often, their questions thread on the Navarro Cartel’s existence. Does the Navarro Cartel exist? Is Ozark based on a true story?

The series turns upon the stories of Marty Byrde and his wife Wendy, both of whom continue to launder money for the Mexican drug cartel. The couple hadn’t met the man heading the operation up until Season 3. Even in Season 2, Omar Navarro played by Felix Solis had acted discreetly through his attorney Helen Pierce played by Janet McTeer. It was only in the beginning of Season 3 Marty and Wendy were introduced to Navarro.

Omar Navarro, the main antagonist of the series, is a short, heartless and very calculating person. He doesn’t care much about the people around him as long as they do his bidding. The unseen character emerged in Season 3 and stole the show, for the role he played and how well he played it.

Truth is that Omar Navarro and the gruesome deaths caused by him are all only a part of the writer’s imaginations. There have been accounts when it comes to Mexican drug cartels operating across the borders, in America but Ozark, completely, has been a figment of imagination.
