The Supreme Court will deliver the verdict on a plea filed by actress Rhea Chakraborty, seeking to transfer the investigation of the Sushant Singh Rajput death case from Patna to Mumbai on Wednesday. The FIR lodged against her accuses her of abetting the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The case is heard by a single-judge-bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy, who will pronounce the judgment at 11 am.
Earlier, the Centre which had accepted the recommendation of Bihar police to transfer the FIR to CBI, and had informed the apex court of the same. The FIR which accuses Chakraborty and six others was lodged at the Patna Station by Sushant’s father.
Sushant, 34, was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14, and since then Mumbai Police has been probing the case keeping in mind various angles.
While the Bihar government had said that “political clout” has not allowed Mumbai Police to even register an FIR in Rajput’s case, the Maharashtra government had argued that Bihar completely lacks jurisdiction in the matter during a hearing on August 11.
Mumbai police has so far recorded the statements of 56 people in the case.
