India reported 50,407 fresh COVID19 cases and 1,36,962 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to data updated by the health ministry on Saturday.
Active cases comprise 1.43% of the total COVID tally, while the daily positivity rate is now 3.48%.
With 804 deaths in a single day, the death toll has been pushed to 5,07,981.

A total of 1,72,29,47,688 COVID vaccine doses have been administered so far. The nation’s mass vaccination campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16 last year.
Meanwhile, omicron is now the dominant variant behind COVID-19 cases in the country, the government said in a press conference in early February this year.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.
