In an ironic turn of events, Home Minister Amit Shah, mispronounced Sachin Tendulkar’s name as ‘Soochin’ while praising him in his speech at the world’s largest Narendra Modi stadium. The irony here is that last year on the same day, Donald Trump had also made the very same mistake of mispronouncing the cricketer’s name at the Narendra Modi stadium.
The Home Minister was invited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the stadium where India is playing against Australia in the third of the fourth-match Test series.
During his speech, where the Home Minister was delivering his speech, he was talking about many highly-acclaimed Indian cricketers who have brought honour to the country. While speaking how Tendulkar, who is believed to be the greatest Indian cricketer, had completed 18,000 international runs, Amit Shah addressed his name wrongly.
Donald Trump, on the same day last year, had also wrongly pronounced the cricketer’s name while he was at the same place that was then called Sardar Patel Stadium and called him ‘Soo-chin Tendul-kerr’. ICC had also shared a funny tweet about the same.

Amit Shah also shared the plans of further developing the stadium. He said that an athletic stadium that will have a seating capacity of 50,000 people will be made for football and other track events. Plans of opening an indoor stadium with a seating capacity of 15,000, were also shared.
Amit Shah concluded his speech by talking about the centre’s ambition of opening 20 stadiums to promote sports and give athletes a platform to achieve their dreams.
The Narendra Modi stadium was inaugurated today by President Ram Nath Kovind. The Sardar Bhai Patel Stadium was changed and renamed into the current Prime Minister’s name and was also refurbished into the world’s largest cricket arena.
