S. S. Rajamouli’s latest action epic ‘RRR’ has not only broken domestic records but has also had a huge win on Thursday in the United States.
The film earned $5.4 million (roughly ₹38 crore) on its first day, which includes $3.3 million in Thursday screenings – a number more than its Friday’s earnings. Forbes estimated that the Ram Charan-Jr NTR-starrer could make around $12 million for the “weekend” in 1,200 theaters.
Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted the earnings of the film Saturday morning, stating that the film had earned nearly $33.7 million (₹257.15 crore) on its opening day.

“#RRRMovie creates history at the WW Box Office,” he tweeted, followed by the territory-wise breakdown of the film’s earnings. “First ever Indian movie to achieve this humongous figure on the opening day.”
Rajamouli has broken his own record with his latest entertainment drama. He directed ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ – which made $26 million worldwide in 2015 and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ – which hit $262 million globally, including $221 million in India, in 2017.

Not only in the US, the movie made record numbers in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia (₹ 4.03 cr) and in New Zealand it hit NZ$ 69,741 (₹ 37.07 lacs).
