Amazon Quiz: In which country have these birds caused blackouts?
China
India
Italy
Japan
Answer: Japan
Blackouts are one of the many issues Japan experiences due to the country’s overpopulation of crows. The birds, which have caused blackouts in the southern island of Kyushu, have forced utility company Kyushu Electric Power to assemble employees who can work for Crow Patrol, a team that manages several issues caused by the ominous aerial creatures.
However, blackouts caused by crows aren’t the only thing bothering the people of Japan. Large flocks of the winged beings have taken over parks and public areas, frightening locals and terrorizing children.
Cases of hungry crows injuring children have also been reported across Japan, as well as instances of crows carrying away ducklings and prairie dogs from zoos.
While the exact number of crows in Japan is tricky to figure out, experts and officials have said that populations have increased at a significant rate since the 1990s.
Ornithologists, experts and government officials say that there are at least 150,000 crows in the city of Tokyo, and hundreds of others may have migrated to different regions.
