Metallica officially responded to ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 using ‘Master of Puppets’ in the final episode.

The band wrote in an Instagram post, “The way the Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away.”

Part of the plan to defeat Vecna, which is set into motion in the season finale, includes Eddie and Dustin distracting the bats in Upside Down, allowing Nancy, Robin, and Steve to sneak up on Vecna. Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, decides to play the heavy metal classic on his BC Rich guitar and ends up perfoming the most metal concert ever.

The actual riffs used in the series, however, are played by Tye Trujillo, the 17-year-old son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. He’d previously posted a message congratulating Tye.

“That’s my boy! Proud of ya Tye!,” the 57-year-old wrote on Instagram, adding, “Stranger Things finale shredding it on ‘Master of Puppets’…”

Metallica is only part of Munson’s playlist who’s already shown himself to be an Iron Maiden fan, and someone who keeps up with the antics of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.

The fan-favourite character martyred himself right after this performance, which he dedicated to Chrissy – the cheerleader from Hawkins High School, who Vecna killed in Eddie’s trailer.

The incident drew suspicion on Eddie, especially due to his position as president of the Hellfire Club, which played Dungeons and Dragons, a game that sparked paranoia in the US in the 1980s since it was believed to be a gateway to Satanism.

However, by the end of the season, Eddie redeems himself as a hero- at least to his friends, if not all of Hawkins.
