Travis Etienne is an American football running back who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Born on January 26, 1999, he played college football at Clemson University and was drafted by the Jaguars in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

On January 21, 2017, Etienne pledged to play college football for Clemson University. At Clemson, Etienne led the team in running as a freshman in 2017 with 766 yards on 107 carries and 13 touchdowns. He had a significant role on a Clemson squad that won the national title in 2018 as a sophomore. 

In January 2021, Etienne made a formal NFL Draft declaration. The 25th overall pick, which the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired earlier in a trade that sent Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams, was chosen by them to pick him. This brought Etienne back together with Trevor Lawrence, his college quarterback who the Jaguars selected first overall in the same draft. Etienne would participate in the Jaguars minicamp as a wide receiver rather than a running back, according to an announcement made by Jaguars coach Urban Meyer on May 15. Etienne committed to a $12.9 million, four-year rookie deal with the Jaguars on July 19, 2021.

Etienne sustained a Lisfranc injury during the Jaguars’ second preseason game against the New Orleans Saints and was later sidelined indefinitely. Etienne’s 2021 season was abruptly curtailed by a major tear in the lisfranc zone of his foot, which was later discovered and required surgery. Later on in the day, he was put on injured reserve for the whole season.

Etienne is of Louisiana Creole origin and was raised in Jennings, Louisiana. His mother, Donnetta, is a nurse, while his father works for an oil sector well service company.
