Indian pacers have scripted a unique history in the Asia Cup 2022 match against Pakistan. This is the first time in India’s T20I history that all 10 wickets in a match have been picked up by pacers. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the charge by registering four scalps, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan bring up the rear with three, two, and one wickets respectively.

The first wicket, that of Pakistan captain Babar Azam, fell in the third over. Azam was looking for a pull shot off a Kumar ball, but ended up mistiming it. Arshdeep Singh, who was at short fine leg, had no problem catching it and sending the formidable batter back to the pavilion with a meagre score of 10.

The best batting performance from the Pakistani side was by their wicketkeeper-opener Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a solid 43 from 42 balls. Rizwan lost his wicket to Hardik Panyda. Other Pakistani batsmen like Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed also did not have much impact in the match, losing their wickets for 10 and 28 runs, respectively.

Hardik Pandya dealt a crucial blow to the Pakistani side when he dismantled their middle order by taking the wicket of Khushdil Shah. The other wickets followed suit, bundling up the Pakistani innings with a scoreline of 147 in 19.5 overs.

India made a poor start to their innings when Naseem Shah dismissed KL Rahul in the very second ball of the Indian innings. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli kept the boat steady, but both lost their wickets in quick succession when the scores were 50 and 53, respectively.

India and Pakistan last faced off against each other in the T20I World Cup. India were dealt a heavy blow in the match, which Pakistan won by 10 wickets. India next face Hong Kong on August 31.
