Bengaluru is unlikely to get a break from unprecedented rain for the next few days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department heavy rainfall will continue for most parts of the week. Very heavy rainfall is expected at the isolated places in Coastal and South interiors of Karnataka The city received its third-highest single-day rainfall ever, last Sunday.

Gaurav Munjal, the CEO and co-founder of Unacademy, an education technology firm, tweeted that his family and pet dog had to be evacuated on a tractor from their society. Munjal’s society was inundated, like a number of other societies, due the heavy rainfall. He shared a video on Twitter and added a caption to it – Things are bad. Please take care. The system of work from home has been started by a number of companies due to the waterlogged streets. 

The city has received unprecedented rainfall – the highest in the last 90 years.

Roads were waterlogged, rainwater entered houses, public and private transport broke down, flights suspended, schools were shut and boats were used. 

There have been a number of accidents throughout the city due to heavy rains. A 23-year-old woman was killed due to electrocution, as is being suspected, while returning home on a scooter.

Since the last two days, NDRF teams with the help of SDRF, fire and emergency services have been conducting evacuations on the orders from BBMP and the relief commissioner. Till now, the teams have evacuated the victims of Bangalore flood from Panathur-Varthur area and DNA Iris Apartment in Whitefield.

They have been attending to emergency calls like Chaithanya Greenford Apartments at Seegehalli after a lake overflowed and water entered the apartments. 71 residents were rescued by the NDRF team.

The teams carried out the evacuation operation at T-zed Homes in Whitefield and also Rainbow Drive Layout at Sarjapura.
