South Africa’s Wayne Parnell managed to get out Suryakumar Yadav, India’s best batter in the ongoing T20 World Cup match, and borrowed a page off Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo’s book as he celebrated the momentous occasion in style.

The Indian batters, except for Yadav, have all registered unconvincing performances after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi was in fine form, picking up the wickets of Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya. 

Parnell himself bagged three scalps in the match- those of Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Both of the Indian openers launched massive 80+ metres sixes to begin their innings. The partnership, however, was short-lived as Lungi Ngidi sent Rohit Sharma to the pavilion in the fifth over. In the same over, KL Rahul quickly followed his suit, edging a catch to Aiden Makram.

Ex-India skipper Virat Kohli, was similarly dismissed for the first time during this T20 World Cup. To pull a short ball, Kohli moved scross the crease, only to get a top edge. Kagiso Rabada made an outstanding running catch at fine leg to give Ngidi his third wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav’s second successive half centuries helped India reach a respectable total to defend. Ngidi was South Africa’s best bowler with a 4-fer. Parnell also finished with the figures of 3/15 and was South Africa’s most economical bowler.
