The Sensex rose more than 500 points in early trade on Tuesday, powered by advances in index heavyweights TCS, Infosys, and Bajaj Finance.

In early trade, the 30-share index was 504.75 points, or 0.88%, higher at 57,765.33. Likewise, the Nifty gained 149.65 points, or 0.88%, to 17,203.60.

PowerGrid was the Sensex pack’s biggest gainer, climbing over 5%, followed by Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, SBI, TCS, and Infosys. On the other hand, Dr. Reddy was the only Sensex constituent trading with losses.

The 30-share BSE index rose 153.43 points, or 0.27%, to 57,260.58 in the previous session. The wider NSE Nifty rose 27.50 points, or 0.16%, to 17,053.95.

According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market on Monday, selling shares worth Rs 3,332.21 crore.

In other Asian markets, the Shanghai and Tokyo stock exchanges were up in mid-session trade, while the Hong Kong and Seoul stock exchanges were down. In the overnight session, stock markets in the United States concluded with gains.

Meanwhile, the international oil benchmark, Brent crude, rose 0.72% to USD 73.97 a barrel. In early trade, the rupee climbs 20 paise to 74.87 against the US dollar.
