The Sensex fell 230.12 points or 0.37% to 61,750.60 while the Nifty was down 65.75 points or 0.36% to close at 18,343.90 at the end of Thursday’s trading session.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 62,050.80 and 61,643.27. A total of 8 stocks advanced against 22 that were declining.

The Nifty traded in the high-low range of 18,417.60 and 18,312.95. On the index, 13 stocks advanced against 37 that declined.

The broader indices ended mostly lower with the BSE MidCap index losing 0.33% and the SmallCap index down by 0.27%. The top losing sectoral indices on the BSE were Consumer Durables down by 1.65%, Utilities 1.50%, Auto 1.35%, Power 1.34%, and Consumer Discretionary 0.92%. While Capital Goods 1.00%, Telecommunication 0.54%, and Industrials 0.46% were only gaining sectoral indices on BSE.

The top losers on the Sensex were Titan Company down by 2.21%, Mahindra and Mahindra 1.16%, Maruti Suzuki 1.63%, HDFC Limited 1.39%, and Dr Reddy’s Labs 1.31%. While the top gainers on the index were Larsen & Toubro up by 1.25%, ICICI Bank 0.63%, Bharti Airtel 0.59%, Powergrid 0.55%, and Axis Bank 0.39%.

The top losers on the Nifty were Titan Company down by 2.28%, Mahindra & Mahindra 2.15%, Tata Motors 2.00%, Eicher Motors 1.83%, and Apollo Hospital Enterprises 1.77%.  While the top gainers were Tata Consumer Products up by 1.94%, Adani Enterprises 1.53%, Larsen & Toubro 1.27%, Power Grid Corp 0.69%, and HDFC Life Insurance 0.60%.

Timken India Limited, Archies Limited, Engineers India Limited, Goa Carbon Limited, and Chembond Chemicals Ltd hit their 52-week high on Thursday.

Piramal Pharma Limited, Shiva Texyarn Limited, Nureca Limited, DCX Systems Limited, and Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Limited touched their 52-week low on Thursday.

Timken India Limited, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited, Adani Enterprises Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, and ICICI Bank Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were Responsive Industries Limited, R Systems International Limited, One97 Communications Limited, Bhandari Hosiery Exports Limited, and Timken India Limited.

R Systems International Limited, Timken India Limited, Goa Carbon Limited, Shree Ram Proteins Limited, and Kamdhenu Limited hit their upper price band.

Bhandari Hosiery Exports Limited, Nazara Technologies Limited, Responsive Industries Limited, FCS Software Solutions Limited, and Axiscades Technologies Limited hit their lower price band. A total of 57 securities hit the upper price band, 77 securities hit the lower band and 10 securities hit both the upper and lower bands on November 17, 2022.
