The Sensex surged 684.64  points or 1.20% to 57,919.97 while the Nifty was up by 171.35  points or 1.01% to close at 17,185.70  at the end of Friday’s trading session.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 58,435.12 and 57,848.23. On the index, 19 stocks advanced, 10 stocks declined, and one stock ended unchanged.

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,348.55 and 17,169.75. On the index, 30 stocks advanced, 20 stocks declined, and no stock ended unchanged.

The broader indices ended in mixed; when the BSE MidCap index fell by 0.13% and the BSE SmallCap index was up by 0.01%. The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were, IT by 1.72%, Bankex by 1.71%, TECK by 1.56%, Capital Goods by 0.71%, and Consumer Durables by 0.56%. On the flip side, Power by 1.34%, Utilities by 1.34%, Oil & Gas by 1.00%, Energy by 0.77% and Realty by 0.77%  were the top losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Infosys by 3.82%, HDFC Bank by 3.40%, HDFC by 2.69%, HCL Technologies by 2.08% and Kotak Mahindra Bank by 1.90%. While the top losers on the index were Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.40%, Asian Paints by 0.80%, Sun Pharma Industries by 0.54%, Wipro by 0.47% and Bharti Airtel by 0.41%.

The top gainers on the Nifty were Infosys by 4.02%, HDFC Bank by 3.76%, HDFC by 2.91%, HCL Technologies by 2.17% and ICICI Bank by 2.16%.  While the top losers were ONGC by 1.69%, JSW Steel by 1.33%, Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.26%, Bajaj Auto by 1.13% and Adani Enterprises by 1.01%.

Shemaroo Entertainment Limited, GSS Infotech Limited, Apollo Micro Systems Limited, Hindcon Chemicals Limited, and Zenith Exports Limited hit their 52-week high on Friday.

Wipro Limited, Biocon Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Akshar Spintex Limited, and Debock Industries Limited touched a 52-week low on Friday.

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals, The Federal Bank Limited, Infosys Limited, HDFC Bank Limited and HDFC Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were TRF Limited, IFB Industries Limited, Asian Energy Services Limited, Tips Films Limited, and Tokyo Plast International Limited.

Asian Energy Services Limited, Atlanta Limited, Digicontent Limited, TVS Electronics Limited, and Focus Lighting & Fixtures Limited hit their upper price band.

Debock Industries Limited, Jaiprakash Associates Limited, ABM International Limited, Adani Power Limited, and Archidply Decor Limited, hit their lower price band. The upper price band was hit by 72 securities, 30 securities hit the lower band and 22 securities hit both the upper and lower bands on October 16, 2022.
